Hello! My name is David Read and with this website I have tried document some of my hobbies, travels and interests. This started as a project to stay in touch with family and friends around the world.

I feel fortunate to have been able to create a life with several hobbies and interests. And with both personal travel and work travel, I have been able to go to many countries, some more than once – I have been to China 10 times so far! I’ve been on several multi-day and sometimes multi-week bike rides and made several videos of these trips.

Another hobby which I have tried to document is woodworking. I have made most of the furniture in our home. Most of this is traditional furniture as documented by one of my videos, but during the pandemic I learned to build river tables. These are fashioned out of live-edge boards and then I pour in colored epoxy in to fill the gaps and cracks. You may want to check out a couple of videos on these interesting projects. For video equipment I have mostly used a GoPro and also taught myself a bit of video editing.

My day job is Vice President of Medical Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. I went to Northeastern University for my undergraduate degree. Then went to Boston College for my MBA and then to Harvard for a Masters in Public Health. After undergrad I also got my pilot’s license. I hope some of these videos may inspire you to do an adventure, or take on a project.
